EXWEL TRUST PARTICIPATED IN THE FAREWELL PARTY FUNCTION.

Sub.Srinivasan (retd),  The Asst.Director of ESM Welfare Tirunelveli district  Tamil Nadu   is  to retiring On 31-5-2017.  On the eve of his retirement he had arranged a Farewell party function in our canteen premises .  More than 100 veterans and their  families  attended the function .

On the invitation of AD.  Mr.Srinivasan, veteran, our Trust members also   joined the function.

Many veterans spoke  about the activities of Soldier,s Board during his period.

Our Financial Trustee, Sgt.C.Muthukrishnan  gave a lecture  about his nature and good services to our ESM community during his tenure .  Our  Admn.Officer Hony.Flt. MP. Natarajan  spoke about his approach and disposing  the problems of  ESMs
.
 We honoured him with a shawl  and  a gift as a token of our good rapport  with him .

FILING OF 10E FOR OFFICERS





FILING OF 10E FOR OFFICERS

All prematurely retired officers (Those who have retired before completing 28 years) were paid Delinking arrears as per CDA Cir.568.

The tax deducted on these arrears is increased proportional to the amount of arrears paid.  Since the arrears were accrued from 2006 and paid now, there is good scope of claiming tax relief u/s 89 by filing 10E before filing tax return.  A Lt. Col with 22 years service getting 6.5 lac delinking arrears will get around 1.25 lac tax relief u/s 89. The following information is required to file 10E.

1. Financial year wise pension income from 2005 to 2017.
2. Year wise breakup of delinking arrears received.

The above information can be obtained from bank.  An officer who has paid tax regularly from 2005 can make use of his Tax return copy for recording the pension income from 2005.
An officer, who has not filed tax so far can also file 10E and claim relief.  All pensioners must insist the bank to issue pension statement from 2005.  Also they have to obtain delinking arrears working sheet from bank to prepare break up from 2005.  This is the situation regarding income tax for officers this year.

Financial year wise pension income from 2005 to 2017 and year wise breakup of the DL 33 arrears are a must for claiming relief u/s 89.  Try to get and claim relief.  If there is a will, there is a way.  Nothing is impossible.

AGAIN ONE MORE PRE-1984 VETERAN HELPED FOR JOINT NOTIFICATION.

AGAIN ONE MORE PRE-1984 VETERAN HELPED FOR ENDORSEMENT OF FAMILY PENSION.

On hearing the services of our Welfare Trust, Ex-Sepoy Dhanaraj came to our Trust  for confirming the correctness of his pension and Arrears received.

Name: Dhanaraj (2562461F)  Rank: Sepoy  QS 16.yrs.
Records” MRC   PPO.No: S/10946/1982.

On going through his available documents and Bank pass book, we confirmed that  he is being paid correct Rate of pension and received the eligible arrears.

We noticed that he has not applied for Joint Notification .


On interaction, he was not aware of this  and in the opinion that the name in the PPO is the Joint Notification.

We explained him about Pre-1984 and post 1984 and the need for Endorsement of Family pension.

Immediately , we prepared the Appendix-1 and Annexure II in triplicate and guided him to forward the same to his Record office  without further delay.

The veteran along with his WIFE was very happy with our dealings and action and thanked  our Trust for this valuable service.

Our Trust is also happy in helping one more veteran  for Joint Notification.

CONDITIONS FOR CLAIMING TAX RELIEF U/S 89




CONDITIONS FOR CLAIMING INCOME TAX RELIEF UNDER SECTION 89

1.       There is no necessity to file all previous years returns for claiming relief u/s 89.

2.      The relief u/s 89 is to be given in the assessment in which the extra payment by way of arrears, advance etc., is taxed.

3.      Basically, the relief u/s is arithmetical.

4.      It involves finding out two rates of tax.  The first is the rate of tax applicable to the total income including the extra amount in the year of receipt.  The second is finding out the rate by adding the arrears to be total income of the years to which they relate.

5.      For this purpose, the assessee should be asked for a true and authentic statement of the total income of the earlier years to which the arrears pertain.

6. There is no warrant for issuing a notice u/s 148 or calling for returns of income of the earlier years.
Note: Many defence pensioners (Specially re-employed and retired), who have received Delinking arrears are hesitating to claim relief u/s 89 because of the fear that they will be asked to file Income Tax returns for the previous years.  The above clarification is given to clear their doubts.  You can file IT return First Time & claim relief without any fear.  Once tax deducted from your pension, you have to file IT return settle the things.  You should not leave it unattended.

FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR VETERANS, WE ARE PUBLISHING ONCE AGAIN
 
Dear veteran brothers,

We all have received arrears on account of OROP, Cir 547, De-Linking  and 7th Pay commission  during the Financial Year 2016-2017. Due to this, Income Tax is deducted from our arrears.

As these arrears is from 2006, hence if you calculate the break up  the arrears -year wise, the Tax will be less or no Tax..

For this we have to prepare the Income Tax Form  10E  and  file for IT refund.

Our Trust is preparing the 10E   and guiding the veterans How to file IT Return.

Interested veterans can approach us for guidance  by giving their particulars with a donation of Rs.500-for Preparing Form 10E.

INCOME TAX RELIEF FOR DEFENCE PENSIONERS FOR THE FY 2017-18

A large number of Defence Pensioners have been subjected to Income Tax deduction during the Financial Year 2016-17 because of the payment of Delinking Arrears, 7 CPC Arrears and OROP arrears.
Most of the lower rank pensioners such as Sepoy, Naik & Hav can get Tax Relief if they file Form 10E and IT return.  Low paid Senior Citizen Defence pensioners and Super Senior citizens pensioners will get complete relief from the tax and get refund.

Some Banks have deducted unproportionate amount of Tax without considering the submission of Pan Card by the pensioner. Therefore it is emphasized that all the Low Paid Defence pensioners must submit Form 10E and File IT return in time to get full relief/refund.
